With Donald Trump getting hammered by all responsible media outlets for his incessant lying and humiliating defeats, Donald Trump still has one news network in his corner – Fox News. The feeling is mutual. Donald loves Fox News programming, and, as reported here and elsewhere, seems to rely on the network as his primary source of information.
That the president of the United States is learning about world events – real and imagined – from a hyper-partisan news organization is frightening enough. It gets crazier. According to recent reporting, Trump is actually considering nominating Fox News personality Andrew Napolitano to the Supreme Court of the United States. Reports Politico:
“After meeting with President Trump twice during the transition, first in December and again in mid-January, the Newark, N.J.-born television personality told several people that Trump said he was on the list of judges from whom he was selecting a nominee for the high court.”
“He said, ‘Trump said I’m on the list,’ said a source who spoke with Napolitano shortly after one of his meetings with the then president-elect. ‘He’s been saying that since the transition.’”
Napolitano is reportedly serving a suspension at Fox News for reporting a false story alleging that Britain was somehow involved in Trump’s (made-up) wiretapping conspiracy. That Trump is considering Napolitano for any position in government is troubling enough. That he is considering him for a spot on the Supreme Court is nothing less than a mockery of the institution itself.
