Sean Spicer has had a tumultuous first few weeks on the job as press secretary for the White House. From picking early fights with the press corps, to lying about crowd sizes, to inventing terrorist attacks, to being the brunt of a brutal Saturday Night Live skewering, Spicer probably could use a few days off. If new reporting proves accurate, it seems Spicer may soon be getting a permanent vacation from the job.
According to the Washingtonian, the White House has interviewed Trump ally and former Navy Seal Carl Higbie to replace Spicer as press secretary.
“Carl Higbie has interviewed for the position of White House press secretary, according to two senior administration officials familiar with the matter,” reports the Washingtonian.
“Higbie, a former Navy SEAL, is close with the Trump family, particularly Eric Trump, whom he met in the green room after appearing on the Kelly File last year. He was one of the first official surrogates for the president on the campaign trail. He was also spokesman for the Great America PAC, which purported to earmark donations “from the grassroots” for the Trump campaign.”
The White House has not confirmed the report. If the report is true, we may be forced to mourn the loss of Melissa McCarthy’s Sean Spicer, one of the greatest and most biting impersonations of all time.
