In recent days, Donald has taken a number of actions to silence our nation’s scientists and the facts that they produce. For example, his administration has imposed a gag order on EPA scientists, has removed the climate change webpage from the government’s website, has said that publication of scientific findings will be evaluated by the White House on a case-by-case basis, and has seemingly questioned the very existence of scientific truth, inventing and employing the term “alternative facts” (a euphemism for “lies”).
It appears that scientists have had enough. Reports USA Today, scientists are in the early stages of organizing a march on Washington. Details are sparse, but it appears the march will be in the same spirit as the hugely successful Women’s March on Washington, and will advocate for scientific freedoms and the protection of scientists from the anti-science elements of the White House.
A statement of Scientists’ March organizers reads as follows: “There are certain things that we accept as facts with no alternatives. The Earth is becoming warmer due to human action. The diversity of life arose by evolution. Politicians who devalue expertise risk making decisions that do not reflect reality and must be held accountable. An American government that ignores science to pursue ideological agendas endangers the world.”
