Washington D.C. is scrambling to ensure they grant sufficient permits for the big event this weekend. “What’s that big event?” You might ask. It’s not the inauguration, but the Women’s March on Washington.
Restore Progress has already told you about the hundreds of thousands of protesters descending on Washington. Supporters of the March have been hoping that the number of protesters will exceed the number of inauguration attendees. Now, early tallies appear to back up that hope.
The Washington Post reports charter buses have sought far more permits for the Women’s March on Washington than the inauguration itself. The Post’s latest tab had Women’s March organizers applying for over 1200 bus permits, compared to a scant 200 being sought for the inauguration.
Obama’s inauguration holds a 15:1 advantage over Donald for number of bus permits. For Obama’s inauguration, more than 3,000 charter buses registered for permits.
No doubt Trump will still claim that his inauguration was the biggest crowd in history. Maybe if you include the women on Saturday, Donald.
