A hot new amenity is being advertised at the Trump tower. The new amenity is paid for by the taxpayers.
Politico reported today that less than a week after Donald’s election, a prominent real estate agency email blasted an email with the subject “Fifth Avenue Buyers Interested in Secret Service Protection?” to advertise condominiums in Trump’s New York tower. The ad stated that the apartment was “The best value in the most secure building in Manhattan.”
New York mayor Bill Deblasio said that securing Trump tower costs the city over $500,000 per day. He is seeking to defray these costs by requesting $35 million from the government.
Although Donald does not retain a portion of sales at Trump tower, his corporation retains a processing fee for unit sales of approximately $2,000 per application and an additional $250 per adult living in the apartment. Therefore, these ads mean Donald is receiving a direct financial benefit from his secret service protection.
Even if Donald tries to distance himself from his businesses (which he has failed to do so far), it seems impossible to prevent Donald’s other business associates from using the president’s office for their own profits.
