Donald is already involving his blind trust supervisors in international meetings.
Donald claims that while president, he will place his business holdings in a “blind trust” run by his children to avoid conflicts of interest. This idea already seems suspect.
The Hill reported today that Donald’s children and proposed blind trust operators have already participated in meetings with world leaders.
Argentina’s President, Mauricio Macri, said that in his first phone call with Donald, he also spoke with his daughter, Ivanka.
The Hill notes this isn’t the first time Donald’s children have been involved in these meetings: “Ivanka Trump was also photographed alongside her father during a meeting between the president-elect and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe last week.
Donald has proposed business dealings in Argentina that would be part of his blind trust.
“Separate media articles indicate that an Argentine development firm recently announced plans to build a massive office building in Buenos Aires bearing Trump’s name. The $100 million project would purportedly create a 35-floor office building, with construction beginning in June 2017, assuming government approval.”
If Donald does not follow through with his promise to have a blind trust to protect conflicts of interests, he would be the first president in over 40 years to not have one.
